Renting a roll-off container, also known as a dumpster, can be a great and cost-effective way to clean up your property. If things have started to pile up, you may need to consider renting a dumpster, but you can’t just throw things in there willy-nilly. As an experienced Maryland dumpster rental company, we wanted to offer up a few tips to help ensure your dumpster gets hauled away, without any additional fees.
Break Down Big and Bulky Things
When you rent a roll-off container, you want to fill it up as much as possible before it’s time to have it hauled away. As you’re filling it up, you may notice you have several larger items that are taking up most of the space. You can reduce the amount of space they take up by breaking them down into many smaller pieces.
Load Your Container from Front to Back
To completely maximize the space of the roll-off container, rather than throw your items over the side, we recommend you load from front to back. Most dumpsters have doors in the rear, which means you can efficiently stack all of your garbage, working your way from the front to the back, stacking as you go.
Don’t Overfill Your Dumpster
You want to fit as much as you can into your dumpster, and while this is encouraged by dumpster rental companies, it is only done so to an extent. Any roll-off container you rent will have a fill line that represents the highest point any garbage in the container should reach. If you stack junk above the fill line, you will likely have to fix it and could face fines. This fill line is so important, because as the trucks hauling the containers travel, they do so with a tarp over them, preventing anything from flying out.
